This year marks the five-year anniversary of the passage of Marsy’s Law in Wisconsin, a significant milestone in strengthening rights for crime victims across our state.

As district attorney of Fond du Lac County, I have seen firsthand the positive impact these protections have had on victims, ensuring they have a stronger voice within our justice system.

Locally, Fond du Lac County has been proud to play a role in educating our community about Marsy’s Law and its importance. One of our most impactful efforts was partnering to host a Silhouette Display, which served as a powerful reminder of the individuals whose lives have been affected by crime and the ongoing need to support victims. Initiatives like this help raise awareness and foster a community that prioritizes justice and compassion for those impacted by crime.

My office and I are proud of the work we do every day to help navigate survivors through the criminal justice process and, hopefully, to find healing and justice. Marsy’s Law has helped in our effort to do just that. As we reflect on the progress made over the past five years, let us also reaffirm our commitment to protecting and empowering victims of crime in the years ahead.
